An arts-based playgroup centered on music, art experiences, and social-emotional learning through play. 10:30am Thursdays (10 sessions) TITLE: Music, Art, and Guided Play for Toddlers (Thursday Caregiver and Me Series) SUBTITLE/TAGLINE: Date and time About this eventFamily & Education • Children & YouthJoinThe Hudson School's facilitated playgroup for toddlers and their caregivers. Children will experience a simple routine that includes play with friends, circle time with singing and stories, followed by a Reggio Emilia-inspired arts activity (paint, clay/dough, drawing, collage, etc.) in a safe and joyful environment that honors and encourages the innate curiosity of children. Adults will support the children's learning and get to know other local families as well.We will hear stories and sing songs together, try simple art techniques, and learn how to share, take turns, and follow a simple school-like routine.Day/Time:Thursdays 10:30 - 11:20 am (No class: November 20)Ages:Toddlers 18 months to 3 years-oldClass Structure:Guided play (20 minutes)Circle time with singing and a story (10 minutes)Arts experience in response to the story of the day (15 minutes)Dates:Class is once a week, on Thursdays for 10, weeks: October 9 - Dec 18. (No class: November 20)Adults:This is a caregiver and child class. Adults engage with their little one, supporting social-emotional, language, and cognitive development. Grandparents and nannies welcome!Teachers:Emily Sytsma is the Lower School Head at The Hudson School and Brooke Mackin is a THS parent and educator. Together they have over 40 years of experience in education. Both teachers hold Masters degrees in education. They believe in the value of play, exploration, and a joyful learning experience.Cost:$300 (10 classes) per child (baby siblings may come along or older siblings who are off school.)Classes are limited to 8 families and will be filled in the order of registration.
