School's Out Festival

Movies Under the Stars: Inside Out 2 (2024)
Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! This summer, NYC Parks and The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will host family-friendly movie showings across the five boroughs. Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Rated PG The following movie has been rated PG. Some material may not be suitable for children. The film should be investigated further by parents before they let their younger children attend. Movies begin at dusk. This event is FREE and open to the public. Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. In the event of heavy rain or extreme weather, the screening may be canceled. The decision to cancel the event will be made prior to the screening and will be promptly posted on our website. Join a thematic afternoon of dance lessons and open dance floor for all with a Queens musical guest! Dance Lessons: 1:30pm Argentinian Folk with Silvana Brizuela Weigel Step into the world of Tango! Learn the basic steps and embrace the joy of this iconic dance with Silvana Brizuela Weigel. Connect with partners, explore the rhythm, and have fun building your foundation. Perfect for beginners, no experience necessary! 2:30pm Flamenco basics and castanets with Flamenco Latino The Sevillanas is a 6-beat folk dance from Seville that has been flamenco-ized and Included in current flamenco repertoire of all major Flamenco dance companies. In this class we will learn the components of the First Sevillanas. We’ll learn the Basic Sevillanas step, how to cross with your partner; La Pasada, and lastly the alternating pasada. After we have learned the steps we will try to do them opposite a partner. 3:00-4:00pm Open Dance Floor with Queens live musical guest PÚYALOAHÍ, a Sunnyside-based collective dedicated to the sounds and rhythms of Colombia’s traditional cumbia music of Gaitas and Tambores. Music by and for the people!
