Heroes & Villains Lower Manhattan Walking Tour - Family event in 1 Bowling Green
6:30 PM SundayJun 22, 2025Financial District, Manhattan

Heroes & Villains Lower Manhattan Walking Tour

In New York, we love stories about heroic acts, courageous actions and the brave people who shaped New York.  Bad actors had as much to do with shaping New York City as the acclaimed heroes – but even those heroes had skeletons in their closets.  The Reynolds Pamphlet, anyone? Liam’s Heroes & Villains Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan, uncovers stories hidden beneath the ones appearing in all of the history books.  From Jeremiah Hamilton to Hetty Green to some of the iconic filming locations where well known fictional heroes & villains (John Wick, anyone?) were brought to our screens, Liam covers it all. This tour is great for families and folks who love history as much as they love TV shows and movies.

Heroes & Villains Lower Manhattan Walking Tour - Family event in 1 Bowling Green
6:30 PM TuesdayJun 24, 2025Financial District, Manhattan

Anne Frank The Exhibition - Family event in Center for Jewish History
1:30 PM WednesdayJun 25, 2025Manhattan

Anne Frank The Exhibition

For the first time in history, Anne Frank House presents a full-scale recreation of the rooms where Anne Frank, her parents and sister, and four other Jewish inhabitants spent two years hiding to evade Nazi capture. Anne Frank The Exhibition premieres in NYC at the Center for Jewish History. This presentation provides a captivating experience for visitors as they encounter the context that shaped Anne’s life—from her early years in Frankfurt through the rise of the Nazi regime and the family’s 1934 move to Amsterdam, where Anne lived until her 1944 arrest and deportation to Westerbork, a large transit camp in the Netherlands, then to Auschwitz-Birkenau, a concentration camp and killing center in Nazi-occupied Poland, and eventually to her death at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany when she was 15 years old. Ages 10 and older. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Toddler Parenting Circle | Facilitated by an Early Childhood Expert - Family event in Corlears School
2:00 PM WednesdayJun 25, 2025Chelsea, Manhattan

Toddler Parenting Circle | Facilitated by an Early Childhood Expert

Join the Corlears School for a toddler family meet-up and connect with fellow parents/guardians experiencing the joys (and occasional challenges!) of raising children ages 1–3. The circle will be facilitated by Colleen Goddard, Ph.D, who serves as the Early Childhood Division Director at Corlears School in addition to her role as an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College. In an informal but nurturing setting, families will have the opportunity to share with one another and ask Colleen questions about the early childhood years. As the conversation unfolds, Colleen can share about any number of topics related to early childhood, including: -How toddlers learn about the world around and within them -Play as a form of expression and understanding -The importance of meaningful relationships rooted in trust and reciprocity -Methods for supporting socialization -Cognitive development and meeting milestones … and more. Parenting circles are brand-new to Corlears, and we hope you can join us for our Summer 2025 soft launch. Your attendance and honest feedback is welcomed as we explore this new way to support families during toddler parenthood. These sessions are an expansion of Corlears School’s Learn. Play. Grow. initiative, which offers free family programming on select Saturdays throughout the school year. “LPG Saturdays” will return in the fall.

Theater Storytime With Ali Stroker and Stacy Davidowitz - Family event in Karen and Richard LeFrak Lobby
3:00 PM WednesdayJun 25, 2025Lincoln Square, Manhattan

Theater Storytime With Ali Stroker and Stacy Davidowitz

Presented in collaboration with Lincoln Center as part of the Summer for the City programming. Lincoln Center’s free Storytime programming returns at Summer for the City—and, due to continued popular demand, we have scheduled two readings every Wednesday! Curated by The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts—which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year—Storytime events feature a children’s book reading accompanied by live music, dance, or theater, engaging kids of all ages. Broadway star Ali Stroker and middle grade author Stacy Davidowitz take their audience on a musical theater journey inspired by their co-authored book, The Chance to Fly. The book tells the story of a theater-loving girl who uses a wheelchair for mobility and her quest to defy expectations… and gravity! Together they will sing from Wicked, perform a scene from their novel, facilitate interactive theater games, chat about the importance of representation in the arts, and answer audience questions. In this Storytime aimed at children ages 0-6, Stroker and Davidowitz offer a glimpse into the joys of expression through song and dance, and bringing stories to life with friends There are two ways to access this free event: 1. General Admission, first-come first-served. Just show up! 2. Fast Track, opening the Monday before the event at noon.  Click here to learn more and reserve. 12:30 AM FridayJul 4, 2025Fort George, Manhattan

Movies Under the Stars: The Little Mermaid

Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! This summer, NYC Parks and The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will host family-friendly movie showings across the five boroughs. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy. Rated PG The following movie has been rated PG. Some material may not be suitable for children. The film should be investigated further by parents before they let their younger children attend. Movies begin at dusk. This event is FREE and open to the public. Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. In the event of heavy rain or extreme weather, the screening may be canceled. The decision to cancel the event will be made prior to the screening and will be promptly posted on our website.
